Hello! My name is Catherine Anderson. I have been teaching at St. Francis of Assisi since 2008. I started off teaching first grade for three years and I am currently a second grade teacher! Teaching is a passion of mine and I truly felt called to be a teacher. I am thrilled and honored to be teaching at St. Francis! I also will be leading the St. Francis Middle School Youth group with my brother Andrew Kanitz this year! So if you have any middle school children send them my way!
I attended Eastern Michigan University for both my Bachelors (Major in Reading, Minor in Math) and Masters Degree in Educational Media and Technology.
I am married to Sergei Anderson, we got married this past August 2014! We love to travel and often times find ourselves on many adventures. Sergei loves to play soccer (he played for the Michigan Wolves) and he is a runner, (ran for Eastern Michigan University). Both him and I coached Middle School track with John Butsic this previous year. We were super excited and proud of our athletes as they broke three school records! Over the summer we coached athletes in our Roadrunner running club, we are hoping to continue this next summer. Random information: His favorite type of dog is the Rhodesian Ridgeback. We hope to own one some day.
In my family, I grew up with three wonderful brothers. The youngest was born exactly nine years later on my birthday! To this day my mother will make us birthday dinners and cakes. My brother Andrew and I have agreed to share one cake. We have a family tradition that the birthday person must take a bite from the whole cake, that piece is then theirs. We have had many messy birthdays!
Outside of teaching I love to stay active!! Some of my favorite things to do are playing soccer, Zumba, and to go for a run every now and then. I also love traveling and exploring nature when I get the chance, there is so much beauty to this world! I enjoy sitting out by a bonfire with family and friends, gazing up at the stars. My family and I love to four-wheel and snowmobile across the fields by my parents' house and through the winding trails in the woods. I also have been getting in seat time on my motorcycle!! The fast stuff is easy, it's the slow maneuvering I am still practicing.
These are a few of my Faaaaavorite things...
Colors: Blue, Pink, and sparkly stuff:)
Food: grape leaves and fruit
Places to shop: Target, Khols, Express, JcPennys
Places to eat: Panera, Olgas, Subway
Other favorites: Soft things, minty gum, flavored coffees, Great Harvest Bread Co.
